Kevin Tu is an energy and environment consultant who began his professional career as a technical supervisor and project manager for Sinopec, the national oil company of China. Before moving to to Canada in 2001, Kevin was the director of Marine Operations of Shenzen Sino-Benny, China's largest LPG distributor. Since then, much of Kevin’s work has involved providing energy, greenhouse gas and criteria air contaminant emissions analysis to Canadian industrial associations and all levels of government. He is an experienced researcher and modeller and specializes in operations strategy and policy analysis of coal mining, oil, natural gas, electricity and metal-smelting industries.
While Kevin currently conducts most of his consulting projects in Canada, his research passion also includes sustainable energy management and coal mining safety in China. He has applied the CIMS model to China’s energy sector and made plausible policy recommendations to address China's GHG emissions, local air pollution and energy security challenges. This model is currently being updated to cover the period between 2005 and 2050. In 2009, Kevin was appointed by the China Council for International Cooperation on Environment and Development as the international coordinator and project consultant for its Task Force on Sustainable Use of Coal. Kevin has authored many articles covering China’s energy and environmental fields, and recently published his first book entitled Modelling China’s Energy Future: Climate Change, Air Pollution and Supply Security.
Kevin holds a Master of Resource and Environmental Management from Simon Fraser University, and a Bachelor Chemical and Mechanical Engineering from Zhejiang University. |
